Editorial acceptance comes first.
Commercial terms do not constitute acceptance. Where a project is unsuitable for the list, the press may decline it irrespective of the author's willingness to proceed.
London Charter Press publishes serious non-fiction for specialist, professional and general readers — from medicine, health and engineering to management, education, self-development and informed public reading.
London Charter Press is built around editorial fit, responsible authorship and long-term reader value. A manuscript is not accepted simply because an author is willing to fund production. Each project is considered for subject relevance, clarity of purpose, originality or practical value, and suitability for its intended readership.
For accepted projects, the editorial and production route is then scoped to the manuscript. The level of editing, review, referencing, design and technical production varies by title — because a clinical handbook, an engineering text and a patient guide should not be treated as the same kind of book.
Commercial terms do not constitute acceptance. Where a project is unsuitable for the list, the press may decline it irrespective of the author's willingness to proceed.
Health, scientific, academic and technical works are expected to use appropriate sources, responsible claims and transparent referencing.
“A serious book should leave its reader better informed, more capable or more able to understand.”
Typography, cover, metadata, format preparation and distribution are treated as part of the publishing work, not as afterthoughts.

These routes are presented as publishing scopes—not “buy now” packages. The final production plan is confirmed only after editorial assessment and manuscript review.
When equivalent components are commissioned individually at the press's published in-house rates, the illustrative combined value is approximately £8,695. The integrated programme consolidates that work under one editorial and production plan.

For accepted chapters within an ISBN-bearing edited volume, with editorial screening, similarity review, copyediting, proofreading, reference formatting, typesetting, author metadata, one correction round and inclusion in the overall book distribution workflow.
For projects requiring a more formal scholarly workflow, enhanced dissemination or open-access treatment, the route is scoped around the actual editorial and technical process.
Authors are charged only within an accepted project and defined production scope. Editorial decisions should remain separate from an author's ability or willingness to pay.

Beyond programme limits: approximately £25 per additional 1,000 words for proofreading-level work, £40 per 1,000 for copyediting and £55 per 1,000 for developmental editing.
Where capacity permits, priority production may carry approximately +25%; express production may carry approximately +40%.
Extra revision rounds outside the agreed scope are typically £195–£395 depending on editorial and production complexity.
Equations, large reference sets, footnotes, complex tables, specialist illustrations and multi-author coordination are assessed separately.
Tell us enough to understand the book, the intended reader and the current manuscript status. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.
Editorial principle: We are interested not simply in what a book is about, but in what it enables its reader to know, understand or do better.
